Mt. Zion Cemetery is located along LA-169, 7 miles south of Mooringsport, LA and 6 miles west of Blanchard, LA. Elevation is approximately 278 ft. Limited unpaved parking is available across the street.
One of the larger communities in the area, Blanchard is home to a number of our members. The town is named after a former Louisiana congressman and governor. The town is known for their annual Poke Salad Festival, held the second Saturday of each May.
Named after Timothy Mooring, who moved to the area in 1837, the small town is located along Caddo Lake and is famous for its vertical lift drawbridge, the only historical example in the state. If you are exploring for the first time, you might check out the town's mini-museum.
The Longwood General Store about 2.5 miles south on Greenwood-Mooringsport Road. In addition to gas and groceries, you can sit and enjoy a burger.
Station #4 of Caddo Parish's FIre District One is located at 3951-, 5979 Greenwood Mooringsport Rd, Mooringsport, LA 71060, about 10 miles form the cemetery and is the poor weather alternate location for annual meetings.
